Canada, Eh? UFC 115 Is On in Vancouver

The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced today that its first trip to the City of Vancouver is still on—and UFC 115 will, indeed, take place in British Columbia.
"Our Canadian fans are among the most loyal and enthusiastic in the world, and we are thrilled to bring the UFC to Vancouver," UFC President Dana White said in an official press release. "We want to thank Mayor Gregor Robertson and our partners at Canucks Sports and Entertainment for helping to make UFC 115 become the first UFC event in British Columbia.”
All right! Let’s get out the hockey sticks and Mounties and have ourselves a mixed martial arts event in the Big White North!
Well, we don’t need the hockey sticks or Mounties—but let’s do the fights, anyway.
The announcement brings an end to the speculation that UFC 115 would take place in Cincinnati, Ohio—where it was rumored that Rich Franklin would take on Chuck Liddell.
Whether or not Franklin and Liddell are still going to tangle is still merely a rumor—but let’s not put too much weight into that kind of hearsay.
According to the mayor, the city is excited for the UFC to come to town.
"Vancouver fans will be thrilled that the UFC is coming here," Robertson said in the press release. "We've worked hard to bring it to Vancouver, and I want to thank UFC and Canucks Sports and Entertainment for making the event possible. Vancouver has some of the most passionate UFC fans in the world, and I have no doubt that General Motors Place will be packed on June 12."
Somewhere in Canada, Bleacher Report MMA alum E. Spencer Kyte is doing the happy dance—Canuck style.
