Mac Danzig out at UFC 131, Vagner Rocha now faces Donald Cerrone
A training injury has forced Mac Danzig out of next month's UFC 131 event, and promotional newcomer Vagner Rocha (6-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has been tapped as a replacement opponent against Donald Cerrone (14-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC).
UFC officials announced the change Tuesday evening.
Featuring a heavyweight tilt between Junior Dos Santos and Shane Carwin, UFC 131 takes place June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
The Pablo Popovitch-trained Rocha has been fighting professionally since February 2009. Early career highlights include a pair of victories under the Bellator Fighting Championships banner, as well as a June 2010 loss to Bret Bergmark on the undercard of Strikeforce and M-1 Global's "Fedor vs. Werdum" event.
Cerrone, a former top WEC lightweight contender, made his UFC debut in the Kelly fight and picked up a second-round submission victory (in a bout that earned UFC 126 "Fight of the Night" honors). He's now won three consecutive fights, including a decision victory over Jamie Varner and a submission win over Chris Horodecki under the WEC banner.
UFC officials did not announce whether or not the fight will remain on the evening's main card.
