How did you get into the sport of martial arts?
I started training in kickboxing when I was 12. My best friend, at the time, started going to these kickboxing classes, he suggested that I should go with him too and since then I started training. I had my first ring fight when I was 16.
What is your favorite strike or submission?
My favorite submission is the Arm Bar…
What or who is your biggest inspiration?
My family
They always support me in any situation.. Making them happy is my biggest inspiration.
Who do you train with? Why? Who pushes you the hardest in the gym?
I train out of Versus Training centre. My conditioning coach is Ben Kerswill, and my kickboxing coach is Ali Taghinejad. I trust them with all my heart. I believe who I am today is mainly because of these great coaches. I’ve been training with Ali since I was 15 and he’s been my fighting coach for ever.
They both train me really hard at the gym but I should say Ben has always been pushing me the hardest.
Where do you feel most comfortable in a fight?
Obviously striking is my main weapon…however, within the past few years I have developed some extra weapons in my fighting game which are secrets.
What was your childhood and adolescents like?
I had a very good childhood … the hardest part of my life was when we had to move to Canada and getting used to living in the new place by the age 14, but I got used to it pretty quick..My family went through some though times but that was what made me not a quitter.
