Rob “Moose” Palmer in 10 Quest-ions

How did you get into the sport of martial arts?

When I was young I grew up watching all the UFC’s. Then I decided that I wanted a sport that I can continually improve on and get into better shape with. I found Mixed Martial Arts. The rest is history.

What is your favorite strike or submission?

My favourite strike would be a combination of the all. My favourite submission, if only a 100lbs lighter, would be the Flying Omoplata!

What or who is your biggest inspiration?

My biggest inspiration is my family, especially my newborn son, and having the ability to watch the world through his eyes.

Who do you train with? Why? Who pushes you the hardest in the gym?

Training out of World Class Martial Arts, I love the close knit gym ideals with the “leave your ego at the door” mentality. When you trust and respect your training partners and coaches you can accomplish much better results. The person who pushes me the hardest is…..myself!!! Without your own personal drive and desire there is no point to training.

Where do you feel most comfortable in a fight?

Handing out the punishment & not receiving it.

What was your childhood and adolescents like?

Too long of a story. Point form. I was young. I grew up. Next question.

If you could say one thing to your opponent what would it be?
To quote Apollo Creed. “Ding! Ding!”

If you could watch anyone fight in any era who would it be?

The key to making me different is really that win, lose or draw any outcome is good. I don’t need to be the best. I just have to continuously improve to become better. If one day that means I am the best then so be it. We all want to win but what do you want to win more…the battle or the war! I choose the war.

If you could watch anyone fight in any era who would it be?

Mike Tyson (in his prime) vs. Muhammad Ali (in his prime)

What do you want to be remembered for?

I want to be remembered for my training ethics, my respect for others and being true to myself, friends & family. A role model and a person to look up to for all those that I train and teach now and also down the line.
